Presented by the Teens Take the Magnes Committee.

Join the Teens Take the Magnes Committee for an afternoon at the museum designed just for teens! With a focus on the Magnes’s current exhibition, Flowing through Time and Tradition, this special program will include art-making activities connected to the exhibition, advocacy opportunities, refreshments, and time to be social.

About the Experts

Charlotte Diamant is an Environmental Analyst for San Francisco Estuary Institute’s (SFEI) Nutrient Management Strategy, where she supports the Moored Sensor Program through field sampling, sensor maintenance, and data interpretation. She graduated from Wellesley College with a B.A. in Environmental Studies and has worked at the San Francisco Bay Regional Water Board and Trout Unlimited’s Conservation Hydrology Program.

person with dark hair and glassesDr. Ezra Miller is a Senior Scientist at SFEI and leads the toxicology focus of the team that investigates emerging contaminants and microplastics in the San Francisco Bay and other regions of California. Ze studies the environmental fate and effects of a broad range of contaminants. Dr. Miller received zir B.S. in Environmental Science and Chemistry from Warren Wilson College, and zir Ph.D. in Environmental Toxicology from the University of Wisconsin – Madison.

About the exhibition
Exploring the theme of water through the holdings of the Magnes Collection, Flowing through Time and Tradition traces how water flows through and shapes Jewish lives: enacting belief, sustaining life and communities, providing the means for spiritual cleansing, and mapping identities.

About the Teens Take the Magnes Committee
The teen committee is made up of high school student volunteers who meet at the Magnes Collection of Jewish Art and Life at UC Berkeley monthly to collaborate with each other and Magnes staff to plan a teen program centered on Magnes exhibitions. The teen committee forms in the fall for the academic year, recruitment for next year’s committee will begin this summer.

This program is supported by the Helen & Albert Colen Endowment of the Magnes Museum Foundation, a supporting foundation of the Jewish Community Federation and Endowment Fund and the University of California Office of the President, “Addressing Bias and Bigotry” grant.
