Picture a records search that takes twenty minutes and still might come up empty. That was daily life for the Magnes Collection of Jewish Art and Life at the University of California, Berkeley. Its team of eight relied on a legacy CMS requiring VPN access to servers overseas, just to pull a single record.

This setup wasn’t just slow. It limited what the team could take on—a reality many GLAMP institutions know too well.

Then came the real test: a chance to acquire the Roman Vishniac Archive. At 30,000 objects, it would double their collections. Taking it on without adding staff meant modernizing, fast.
