Charles and Kalman Haas founded Haas Brothers, Inc., a prominent wholesale grocery business in nineteenth-century California. The profits from the business were invested in mining, utility, and transportation businesses.
The collection consists of a small number of business records of Haas Brothers of San Francisco, including checks, promissory notes (1875-1908), partnership agreement and dissolution documents, and materials relating to Haas Brothers’ investments in the North American Navigation Company (1896), the Consolidated Quicksilver Mining Company (1884-1900), the Yuma Improvement Company (1893-1894), and the Klamath Development Company (1905).
